Once again, the Nebraska Fur Harvesters is invited to represent fur harvesting at the state park expos. These are outstanding opportunities to communicate sound, scientific wildlife management to our youth.
During the events, grade school students on a field trip rotate between booths setup by outdoor use associations. These youth are the future generation; most will never set a restraining device but in the future be voters. At their age most are open to factual information. I have assisted in more than one such event and find it enjoyable to relate our way of life. I doubt anyone helping will be disappointed with the experience.
Currently our association is preparing for two EXPOS. The first will be at Platte Valley State Park (between Lincoln and Omaha) located along the Platte River. These dates are April 16th & 17Th, 2025.
The second is being held at Ft Kearney (southeast of Kearney) on May 8th & 9th, 2025.
Granted they are a two-day event but one need not be there both days. Lodging may be covered if one stays for both days.
Call NFH coordinator Mike Lance at (402) 396-3718 for details on interacting with these youth.
