Updates on events

Nebraska Fur Harvesters would like to thank the members that volunteered to help with the Deer Expo in January. It was 3 days of answering questions about the fur and traps we had on display and about our organization. We handed out membership forms, flyers about our fall convention and some animal cards to the kids. We have also secured the same booth location at next year’s Deer Expo.

April 1st is the deadline for high school seniors to apply for our $500 scholarship. The application form can be found on our website https://nebraskafurharvesters.com on the education tab drop down and where to send it. April 11th is when we are having our spring meeting, it will be at the American Legion at 108 E 2nd St. Hershey, NE. Please let Kevin Jones know if you will be coming for the noon meal, so we have enough food ordered, 402-432-4448.

We have communicated with the Nebraska Game and Parks that NFH will be at both the Platte River State Park event Wednesday April 15th and Thursday April 16th and the Outdoor Discovery Program and Fort Kearny Outdoor Expo Wednesday May 6th and Thursday May 7 th. Volunteers are needed at both events. If you can help with either of these events contact Kevin Jones or Mike Lance. We need a head count for the lunch they provide us with each day. Don’t forget to get your nominations for the NFH hall of fame award, nominations need to be submitted by May 1st to Kevin Jones so the board of directors can select a winner or winners.

We have a host motel now for our Fall Convention. It is the Comfort Inn & Suites 2810 Plum Creek Parkway Lexington, NE 68850 (308) 324-3747. Roy Greenfield has been doing a lot of leg work to secure this. Lexington has been going through a lot of hard times with their largest employer closing the plant there. They are pleased we will be coming to their city so please put September 25th and 26th on your calendar to attend. More communications will be coming on the vendors and demos that will take place these 2 days.
