Volunteers Needed for Events

Weird winter! Never know what tomorrow will hold for weather. As the season passes, we are looking to the future. The Nebraska Fur Harvesters are ever so fortunate to have so many dedicated people ready to step forward when assistance is requested. As you think of the events you have attended, take into consideration who you feel deserves a token of gratitude. Nominate them for the NFH Hall of Fame. Granted it is but a plaque but it shows our association appreciates the efforts of the recipient. Feel free to call Kevin Jones, NFH president and discuss the nomination.
Kevins number is (402) 432-4448. The deadline for this year’s consideration is May 1st, 2026.

Nebraska Game and Parks have approved this year’s drawing at the fall convention for the Youth Life Trapping Permit. The age range is birth – 15 years of age. Entry may be made at the fall convention in Lexington on September 25th & 26th. The drawing will be at the convention.

As in the past I remind everyone the NFH will be participating in the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Experience again this year. The first event is at Platte River State Park (Just off I-80, exit 426 in eastern Nebraska). Set up for the outing will be April 14th and the days of exposure are the 15th & 16th. Countless youth groups will be visiting each of the many stations. Granted not everyone attending will be a future trapper but they will be a voter!

The second event will be held at FT Kearney in central Nebraska. Once again May 5th will be set up with the 6th & 7th being the time with the youth. Consider assisting and call Mike Lance at (402) 396-3718 or Kevin Jones at (402) 432-4448.

Once again, the spring meeting is being held in Hershey, NE on April 11th. Lunch will be provided at 11:00 AM and the meeting starts at 12:00 PM. RSVP with Kevin at the phone number above for lunch. Hershey is a short distance west of North Platte on I-80.

Hope to see everyone at the above-mentioned events! Roy
