Once again summer is slipping away ever so quickly! During this busy transition time of the year, one has countless things going on. The yard to keep up with. Garden must be maintained and the fruits of your effort stored for the coming winter. For those of us who have chosen the way of life we live there are traps to dye and wax, bait and lure to prepare and the fur shed will need setup for finishing the products we will offer at auction.
Fur harvesting conventions are in full swing offering the sights, smells and information we hold so dear. Time to renew the friendships with like minded persons we see only one time a year. Yes, the days are passing quickly and it will be time to head for Chadron, NE before we realize it. Mark Ross and Dave Hastings have endured countless hours and miles along with untold phone calls to ensure the Nebraska Fur Harvesters Fall Convention will be one to lead the record books. The September 26 & 27 event at the Fairgrounds in Chadron is shaping up to be a “Gotta Go” event. I have had conversations with many of the most recognized names in the industry who plan to attend. Representatives of more than a dozen states will be attending. The area offers untold attractions for the family so bring everyone along.
At the same time, we must look toward the 2026 Nebraska State convention. Hosting the event does take a little effort but there are many persons willing to assist. It is rewarding to stand back and observe everyone taking in information and making new friends. Consider hosting a convention and contact Kevin Jones, NFH president for information. Nearly every area will have facilities that will handle the gathering.
