Chadron 2025

Every indication is we are in for a tremendous Fall Convention this year! Mark Ross has spent hundreds of hours and miles organizing and promoting the event. The last I heard persons from at least eight states were going to be attending. The vendor list continues to grow, and the demos are as good or better that those at some national events. Make sure you mark September 26th and 27th 2025 on your Calander.

Scott and Denise Lickteig laid the groundwork a couple of years ago by contacting Chadron, NE about the event. Mark Ross took the reins and charged ahead. The town of Chadron and area are laying out the red carpet for us trappers!

With all this interest I encourage everyone to make your motel reservations now. The host motel, Best Western Chadron, (308) 432-3305, is not huge and has an attractive rate. $100.13 per night. I just called them and by making your reservation now your credit card will not be charged until you stay there. Be absolutely certain you verify you are making the reservation for the Nebraska Fur harvesters convention. If the call is not answered at the desk, it automatically goes to corporate. Once again be certain you state the NFH event and rate.

Area attractions? MR Hanson and his family have spent decades developing the “Museum of the Fur Trade” to international acclaim. It sits just a short distance from the convention grounds. I am told members of the NFH will have free admission to the facility while we are at the convention.

In addition, Clint Livingston will be bringing a group of Mountain Men reenactors who will be setup during the weekend. They will have the camp portraying the clothing, tipis and items from the era. There will also be a tent general store offering items of their lifestyle for sale.

Paul Antzack from the History Channel “Mountain Man” is attending to rub elbows with everyone.

Dan Gates of Colorado, who recently chaired the defeat of a ballot initiative there to eliminate hunting of big cats in the state will be guest speaker at the NFH banquet. This was a David VS Goliath victory. Congratulations to everyone who assisted in so many ways.

Special activities are being planned for the children and lady of the house. I will post those when available.
