The Nebraska Fur Harvesters fall convention is within sight. As I write the following, we will be in Lexington in four weeks. I have helped with countless events and can say this convention looks very solid. Additional dealers have been calling and there is one of the best demo schedules I have ever seen. If one added the years of experience the speakers, have it would not be decades! The figures would confirm centuries in the field. Every legal regional species will be covered so bring a notebook.
Just what happens when organizing a convention? First, organize the committee, settling on the location and passing the word on to the members and vendors. In the case of this year’s event in Lexington that started 1 ½ years ago. Contract to agree on for the grounds and start booking vendors. Motels to speak with, food service to arrange, advertising to arrange and a dozen other subjects. We are nearly down to the hands-on portion. On Thursday September 24th it will be set up time. Tables to arrange, banners and signs to place for the event, the demo area to lay out and a ton of other “gotta get it done items”. This year the Johnson brothers have agreed to set up the demo area. These activities take hands on manpower! All too often a mere handful of members take on the challenge. The NFH has no paid positions!!! Every officer and member donates their time and most often personal expenses. I am asking for / pleading to the membership to be there on Thursday morning and help the setup.
