It Is Time to Start Planning

As the year closes it is time to reflect on the past and look to the future. Our association has made great strides in supporting fur harvesting. At the same time, we have many ventures to partake in the future. In the near future many will represent the association at the Deer Expo. in Lincoln. It is time to start planning to attend the spring meeting. I recently spoke with Mark Ross and the fall convention in Chadron will be an event to remember. Looking to the future it is time to think of the 2026 Fall Convention. Have you considered hosting an event? It is rewarding to see everyone enjoying an event.

The association has divided the state into three zones for event hosting. By the bylaws the fall convention is to rotate to a different area each year. Starting at the western end of the state zone #3 runs from the WY/NE state line to North Platte. Zone #2 covers from North Platte to York. Zone #1 is from York to the NE/IA state line. The 2026 event would be located in Zone #2, central zone.

There are many experienced persons willing to help the host. On the local scene one would contact the proposed site, speak with motels and restaurants, and work the local scene. Yes, it takes a little time but is well worth it. The final decision on the event site would be made at the 2025 convention business meeting. A vote of the general membership decides where to go. Give Nebraska Fur Harvesters President, Kevin Jones a call at (402) 432-4448 to express your interest.
